Ramon Soliva Vidal (Central de Capdella)

A member of the PSUC, he fought in the Civil War and went on to command the 124th Mixed Brigade and the 45th Division. Exiled to the USSR, he was one of the republican soldiers who studied at the Frunze Military Academy. In 1945 he joined the permanent secretariat of the PSUC in France. In 1960 he was sent to Cuba, where he became one of the main military advisors to Fidel Castro’s government and was in charge of organizing the Cuban revolutionary armed forces.
