In a meadow near the Plana de Mont-ros bridge, an undetermined number of Republican prisoners were buried, members of a battalion of workers who repaired the infrastructures of the Vall Fosca affected by the floods of October 1937. These prisoners tried to escape, but were captured days later, and shot by Franco’s army in front of their comrades in October 1938. The only identified victim is Ignacio Gutiérrez Altolaguirre (Sestao, 1905). In 2022, the site where the mass grave is believed to have been was excavated, but no remains were found.
